Here is a different but kind of fun post.

1. If every job paid $50,000 a year, and you had no physical or mental limitations, what would you do? I don't think 50,000 is enough .. . . lets say 100,000 . . I can easily live off of that. Other than being a mom ( obviously) . . I would love to have a job in marketing, or some sort of research, and most recently after having the baby, I would love to be a nurse or a doctor ( can't handle needles though, so that's not going to be happening anytime soon.)

2. What is your current church calling and what do you like about it? pianist in primary . . . been in there for 3 years. . . We live in a fast growing neighborhood, and as much as I love primary, 3 years and 4 ward splits, has caused me to only know about 6 women in the ward . . . .so I guess one thing I like about it is, I know who all of the kids in the ward are, and I can kind of keep my eye out for who I can use for babysitters in the next few years.

3. Name a person you regularly encounter (outside your family) who brightens your day. it would have to be the girls at work. . . because outside of my family, they are the only people I really see on a regular basis. . they are so kind and loving, and accepting of me.

4. In twenty years, what do you think you will miss most about your life now? Little babies. . . hopefully I won't be too far from having grandchildren at that point though, so I will get to live that new chapter of my life.

5. What’s something you appreciate about your spouse? He doesn't look for the acceptance of other people. He doesn't feel he needs to please them or do something that will make them like him. He does just what he thinks is right. Unfortunatly this is also something that drives me crazy, only because I am constantly looking for that acceptance. shortcoming on my part. but I am actually getting more and more to the point that I care more about being a good wife and mother than appearing to be a good wife and mother.

6. What is your favorite routine, household chore? Vacuuming . . . . If I am to the point of vacuuming, then the rest of the room is probably pretty clean. . . and if it's clean, I am more relaxed.

7. What’s a book you return to occasionally (besides the scriptures)? The Majesty of God's law, and Discourses of Brigham Young.

8.Favorite Small Pleasure. I love it when matt kisses me on the nose.

9. Favorite time of the day? Mornings. . . its quiet and It is usually just me and Selene. Great bonding time.

10. Name a person who performed what they thought was a small act of service, but ended up being a big deal to you: My sister Whitnee came to watch Selene while I put in my last two weeks of work . . . Huge deal to me, because I was having nightmares about putting her in daycare, and everytime I would start looking at putting her in a daycare center, I would start crying . . . . So grateful I can leave her with someone who will show her love.

11. Name someone who somehow changed your life. Matt and Selene . . . duh

12. Consider what you do each day. Think of one attribute or trait that you bring to your daily work that is a strength—what is something you do really well? I am a great listener. I tend to be pretty quiet, so that definitly helps .

Baby Blessing

Last Sunday the 12th of October, Matt Blessed Selene at Church. Both our parents were there, and some aunts, uncles and cousins. It was great seeing everybody. We had a brunch type meal afterwords at our house, with scrambled eggs, bacon, cinnimon rolls, and Juice. It went very well, other than the storm that some had to drive through to get to it. We took a few pictures before church. .. . . . now I'm wishing I would have got more pictures of the family members who were there too. My mom made Selene's dress and bibs, and I made her headband . . . .wishing now I wouldn't have done her hair curly . . . the spray gel got all flaky and gross by the time we got to church . . . just have to remember that for next time

Family Pictures

two weeks ago, Matt's Cousin did some family pictures for us. He is a really great photographer and lives just about a mile away from us. www.fogartyfoto.com. we did the session at his homestudio... problem with naked babies, they pee a lot . . .she got me once, and Matt twice. . . but it was a lot of fun, and we now have some really great pictures .

Daddy's little Girl!

Last weekend I went to Idaho for my cousins wedding . Matt had to work, so I took Selene, and we just headed down for the day by ourselves. It was great visiting with family and friends that I haven't seen in a while. Selene and I headed back for home quite a bit later than originally planned, and we ended up pulling into the driveway about 11:30 at night ( I tend to drive slow at night, and Selene can't go 3 hours without eating, so we had to stop at a rest stop to feed her) when we pulled into the garage, the door from the house popped open, and out came Matt. He was so excited we were home. He went straight over to the passenger side and pulled the car seat out of the back. He looked at her, and she looked at him and gave him the biggest smile we have seen her give anybody. It is so fun to watch him interact with her. He says things like "cute" , which he used to make fun of his friends for saying, but now he says it on a regular basis.

On Sunday's, I play piano in primary ( I think I'm going to be in there forever) so Matt takes Selene for two hours. . . I go crazy missing her for just those two hours. It's really going to be bad when I have to go back to work. It's strange how these little ones come into your life and have your heart wrapped around them instantly. In one way, it's strange that we have a kid, and in another, It seems like she's always been a part of our family. I'm so anxious for her to get to the next stage where she will be more interactive , but at the same time, it is making me really sad how fast she is growing and changing.

The trouble with hair

So Selene has tons and tons of hair ( in the picture, you can kind of see that it is a couple of inches long, by looking at her ears ) . . I always thought hair on a baby was a good thing . . . . until yesterday . . . . You know how if you have long hair, and you are holding a baby, they tend to grab a tight hold on your hair, and the only way to get them to let go, is to pry their hands off of it . . Well, yesterday Selene started screaming, ( this girl is so good, she only cries when something is wrong , and this time she was SCREAMING!!! ) trying to figure out what the issue was, she had one of her hands behind her head. I kind of turned her around and there she was with her hand pulling hard on her own hair. . . . she was trying to move her hand away from her head, but the more she tried, the worse it hurt, and the louder she screamed. I had to pry her hand open so that she would let go of her hair, and once I did that, she was fine. Unfortunately for her, she did this 4 times . . . . I'm going to have to start putting mittens on her.

yea!!!! the epidural worked!!!!! oh, and the baby is here!

On August 26th, Selene Allison Freestone was born at 6:19 am. Labor started at 3:00 am on August 25th. . . after that I couldn't go back to sleep. . . .Sent my husband to work at 10:00 am, and I got onto a conference call from home. during the conference call, I muted the phone and called my doctors office to see at what point should go to the hospital. . . they told me if the contractions were more than 5 per hour, then I should go to the hospital to get checked out. . .. at this point, I was having between 10 and 12 an hour. . . .I texted my husband and told him he better head home, so that we could go to the hospital.... We got to the hospital about 11:30 am. they checked me and I was only 2 cm dialated. . . for the next two hours, they monitored me and I only got to a 3. . . they sent me home with some percocit to try and relieve some of the pain of the contractions so that I could sleep . . . . percocit doesn't help me a whole lot as a pain killer. . .I slept between contractions and at 7:00 pm that night, the contractions were becoming unbearable. . . . so we headed back to the hospital. after about two hours of sitting in triage, they finally had a labor and delivery room cleaned up . . . I immediately asked for an epidural and the anestition nurse did a great job of getting it in. the IV hurt more going in than the epidural. the epidural was working within two minutes. and it worked great. the doctor came in later to break my water and that wasn't hard, it was a lot lower than they expected. a bit later ( I kept falling asleep, so I don't know how much time had passed. ..) the nurse came in and we started to push . . I was afraid they would turn off the epidural or not let me have a refill if needed, so I pushed as hard as I could. . . . . I pushed for 3 1/2 hours. .. . ends up one of my bones should have been rounded, and it was more flat, so the baby wasn't really moving down very well. .. . . the doctor finally came and they were debating weather or not to do a c-section or use forceps . . . .they were worried about the tearing with the forceps. .. . they decided to try the forceps . . . they went in with no difficulty, but they did cause some tearing . . . . with the forceps in place. I pushed three times and the baby was out. they took the baby and cleaned her up a little bit. She made a little bit of noise as they were cleaning out her mouth and nose, but after that she quieted right down. . . she's been that quiet and calm ever since. I was able to hold the baby while they were stitching me up, unfortunately that took 1 1/2 hours . . .the tears were difficult to get to.

Selene sleeps for 6 hours straight at night. . and has since the day we brought her home. She is a very content baby and very cute. . she has a lot of hair . . .I had a good amount of hair when I was born, but nothing like this. She was born 7 lbs 12 ounces, 19 inches long. within 7 days of having her, the majority of the pain is gone, and I think I am healing well. We aren't really sure who selene looks like . . . I guess there is one picture of her that she really looks like Matt, but I am not sure which one it is. . .she doesn't really look a whole lot like me. She is a lot of fun and I am so happy that she is so good and so healthy.

Only 7 days to go

So I used to think that this pregnancy was just flying by . . . . now that I have a week left, it's at a crawl. Dr. said I am 1 cm dialated ( I was that way 2 weeks ago ) . . . . we also set up an induction date of sept. 2, incase I don't have her before then. I am constantly having contractions . . . which are so weird . . . . but they are getting stronger, so hopefully it won't be a whole lot longer. I'm past the stage of fear, and I'm to the stage of . . . .'whatever, let's just get this over with, I'm tired of being pregnant'. I finally feel like I am completely ready for the baby to come. . . I have everything I need at home, and I have pre-registered at the hospital . . . . so now I'm just waiting. I think that Matt is getting nervous though . . yesterday he told me that he wants me to talk to my boss about working from home. . . I think he feels a lot better if he can take care of me here, rather than having to worry about me trying to drive myself home while I am in labor ( I wouldn't do that if I was in hard labor, but I guess a lot can change in a 20 minute drive home. ) of course I am pretty hard headed and he knows it, so I guess he has good reason to worry that I would try and do it all myself rather than asking for help.
