too long.

It's been way to long since I have written. . . Selene will be 4 months old next week... . it seems like it was just a few weeks ago that she was born . . .she has developed a few habits . . .she all of the sudden one day started sucking her thumb, . . . makes me a little worried that it's going to cause lots of problems with her teeth later on, but she does it to put herself to sleep . .. when she wakes up in the middle of the night, and also when she is hungry . . . so it's not too often. she is able to hold her head up really well now. . . she takes naps 3 times a day and as long as I keep her on her schedule, she is happy . . . . .sundays are a bust though because she ends up missing her first nap because of church . . .so she is pretty much cranky all day sunday . )

We've gotten a lot of snow in the last few days . . . the problem with snow, is that the mice start finding there way into your house . . I hate mice more than anything else. so much so that I always have a sticky trap in the pantry. yesterday evening I went into the panty and looked down at the trap ( I do this everytime I open the door out of habit ) and it looked like it was covered in dust ,. . . . look a little closer and it was mouse hair. It had caught a mouse, but the mouse had escaped and was running rampant through my house .. . . did I mention I hate mice. . . so I just always hope when that happens that they have left . . ( but really I know it's somewhere inside lurking probably waiting for the right moment to come up and bite me ) I learned long ago that I have to keep all of my food locked up in plastic storage bins otherwise the mice will find there way into it and then I have to throw it away . . .non of the food had been touched . . So I spent an hour or so last night making sure there were no crumbs in the kitchen at all, including bleaching the floor ( probably not good for the floors, but I don't care at the moment because I hate mice ) last winter we had probably 5 mice during the winter, and I was pregnant . . . I am convinced that having the mice in our house made my morning sickness worse . . because once my mom came and cleaned my house and floors, the intensity of my morning sickness was cut in half ( I go off on a lot of tangents huh) anyway . . I was getting ready for bed last night and I was sitting on the steps that go up to the tub, and cutting my toe nails. I heard something behind me, and turned around and didn't see anything. I figured ( hoped ) that it was just the wind and snow I could hear ) I heard it again and caught a glimpse of a mouse running around in the bottom of the tub trying to get out . . .at this point normally I would get Matt and he would beat the sucker to death and then take it outside and execute it with a .22 for all of it's little mouse friends to see as a warning ( yeah, we go a little overbored . . . the first time we did that , we got some weird looks from the neighbor who was out walking her dog. . . ) Unfortunatly for me Matt is in Alaska on a business trip until tomorrow morning. . . . and there is no way I am taking care of the mouse myself. . . I called Matt and asked him if he thought the mouse would stay in the tub or if it could escape ( it's a really deep tub . . .just under 3 feet ) . . he said he didn't know, but that I should have his brother come over in the morning and take care of it. I couldn't stand to stay in the room, so I slept on the couch last night . . this morning Matt's brother came over and got the mouse out of the tub for me, it was still alive, but it was pretty much comotose . . I am thinking maybe it was dehydrated . .so it is now sitting outside in the trash can in the cold. . . .and My tub is currently being soaked with bleach. . . .if I don't do that, I will get the willies everytime I try and take a bath. . . and right now I am feeling relieved that for the moment I don't have any nasty mice ( as far as I know, and please don't try and correct me and say if there is one there is probably more that I don't see . . really I don't need to deal with that . . . I stress out way too easily ) One thing that I HATE about my house . . .mice get in, and we can't figure out where. . . . so gross . . I have to deal with this every year . . . I didn't have this problem in the old house . . we only had one mouse the entire time we lived there.
