It's been way to long since I have written. . . Selene will be 4 months old next week... . it seems like it was just a few weeks ago that she was born . . .she has developed a few habits . . .she all of the sudden one day started sucking her thumb, . . . makes me a little worried that it's going to cause lots of problems with her teeth later on, but she does it to put herself to sleep . .. when she wakes up in the middle of the night, and also when she is hungry . . . so it's not too often. she is able to hold her head up really well now. . . she takes naps 3 times a day and as long as I keep her on her schedule, she is happy . . . . .sundays are a bust though because she ends up missing her first nap because of church . . .so she is pretty much cranky all day sunday . )
We've gotten a lot of snow in the last few days . . . the problem with snow, is that the mice start finding there way into your house . . I hate mice more than anything else. so much so that I always have a sticky trap in the pantry. yesterday evening I went into the panty and looked down at the trap ( I do this everytime I open the door out of habit ) and it looked like it was covered in dust ,. . . . look a little closer and it was mouse hair. It had caught a mouse, but the mouse had escaped and was running rampant through my house .. . . did I mention I hate mice. . . so I just always hope when that happens that they have left . . ( but really I know it's somewhere inside lurking probably waiting for the right moment to come up and bite me ) I learned long ago that I have to keep all of my food locked up in plastic storage bins otherwise the mice will find there way into it and then I have to throw it away . . .non of the food had been touched . . So I spent an hour or so last night making sure there were no crumbs in the kitchen at all, including bleaching the floor ( probably not good for the floors, but I don't care at the moment because I hate mice ) last winter we had probably 5 mice during the winter, and I was pregnant . . . I am convinced that having the mice in our house made my morning sickness worse . . because once my mom came and cleaned my house and floors, the intensity of my morning sickness was cut in half ( I go off on a lot of tangents huh) anyway . . I was getting ready for bed last night and I was sitting on the steps that go up to the tub, and cutting my toe nails. I heard something behind me, and turned around and didn't see anything. I figured ( hoped ) that it was just the wind and snow I could hear ) I heard it again and caught a glimpse of a mouse running around in the bottom of the tub trying to get out . . .at this point normally I would get Matt and he would beat the sucker to death and then take it outside and execute it with a .22 for all of it's little mouse friends to see as a warning ( yeah, we go a little overbored . . . the first time we did that , we got some weird looks from the neighbor who was out walking her dog. . . ) Unfortunatly for me Matt is in Alaska on a business trip until tomorrow morning. . . . and there is no way I am taking care of the mouse myself. . . I called Matt and asked him if he thought the mouse would stay in the tub or if it could escape ( it's a really deep tub . . .just under 3 feet ) . . he said he didn't know, but that I should have his brother come over in the morning and take care of it. I couldn't stand to stay in the room, so I slept on the couch last night . . this morning Matt's brother came over and got the mouse out of the tub for me, it was still alive, but it was pretty much comotose . . I am thinking maybe it was dehydrated . .so it is now sitting outside in the trash can in the cold. . . .and My tub is currently being soaked with bleach. . . .if I don't do that, I will get the willies everytime I try and take a bath. . . and right now I am feeling relieved that for the moment I don't have any nasty mice ( as far as I know, and please don't try and correct me and say if there is one there is probably more that I don't see . . really I don't need to deal with that . . . I stress out way too easily ) One thing that I HATE about my house . . .mice get in, and we can't figure out where. . . . so gross . . I have to deal with this every year . . . I didn't have this problem in the old house . . we only had one mouse the entire time we lived there.

Goals
I find myself now at home full time no longer working outside of the home. I love it. I feel like I can now find the time during the lulls of the day to work on goals. I prefer to not make goals for the new year, but rather goals to accomplish by the new year. A few of my current goals
1. Lose weight . . . that's always on the list . . . when will I learn that I need to make lifestyle changes rather than temporary eating and excercise habits. . . so I guess what my real goal is, is to eat more fruits and vegetables, excersize ( sp?) 3 times a week , and eat less processed food. . . I like this goal for the holidays, because it helps me say no to the second helpings of goodies that always seem to be so abundant this time of year . . .not to mention i have a ton of nice clthes that would fit great if i lost 15 or 20 pounds.
2. make my house a home . . . sounds silly, but i need my home to be more comfortable and inviting . .. . to me it seems so cold and uninviting. and i want my children (and their friends) to always feel safe , comfortable, and welcome . . . there are numerous things i plan to do to acomplish this . . . a few are. . .better decorating, more home made meals . . .and more meals without a tv to take the place of conversation. . . .. next house, i don't want a tv anywhere near the dining room table . . . i would change it now, but our tv is mounted to the wall, and we have speakers set in the wall around it. and i can't affords to re-drywall the living room right now. . . and i think matt wouldn't be to happy if i moved it.
3. a cleaner, tidier house . . really coincides with #2. i am working hard to keep my house clean, and i'm doing pretty well.... so far, i make sure there are no dirty dishes in the sink before i go to bed, and the counter tops are cleaned off . . . .since the kitchen has always been my trouble spot, this helps me keep up much easier with the rest of the house. . . i've been going a week on this one so far, and so far, so good. i have a schedule written up for the week of what needs to be acomplished that day to get the house to where i want it to be . . . i work well when i have a list of all that i need to do. i can check off the items, and see progress on paper.
4. attend enrichment meeting . . . 4 years ago i moved into a fast growing area, and made a few friends . . . the wards kept splitting, and i got tired of having to put forth the effort to meet new people (way out of my comfort zone) . . so i kind of gave up. . . the time has come for me to get out and meet people in the neighborhood . . . .easiest way to do that, is to go to enrichment meeting . . . . who knows , i may have fun or learn something new in the process.
5. life long goals(to keep in mind) . . . create memories for my children, establish family traditions, treat those i love as well and with as much kindness and respect, as i would give someone i just met. give my children the foundation they need so that they can gain knowledge and a testimony of their own, that first and formost they are children of a heavenly father who loves them unconditionally
I figure this list is reasonable and something i can make improvements on as i go through the day caring for the baby.

GRRRRRRRR!!!!!!
while trying to find a fitting picture of Obama I ran across the anonymous comment on a random blog, and it perfectly reflects my feelings . . . . . .
" Most people do NOT realize that Adolf Hitler was overwhelmingly elected by the German political machine in a national election of the 1930's - in a democratic country, by the way! He was welcomed as a 'messiah' to the German people, as can be seen by the massive support that he received from the German people. It was only AFTER he attained power that things begin to change. It was at that time that his dissatisfaction with Germany became apparent. Obama is extremely dissatisfied with America, both he and his wife have no problem consistently stating this. Yet, all the while, they both live in the upper 1% of the social-economic class of this country. He appeals to the 'feelings' of dissatisfaction (just like old Adolf) that are so visible here in America. Obama is exactly like Hitler. Same methods, same speeches, same propaganda...hopefully not the same goals of world domination. I fear though that his primary goals are to force America into bankruptcy so that we'll have no choice but to surrender our sovereignty and be part of a New World Order."
one big question for me . . . .How long before he tries to justify going after our guns . . . and will we let allow him to succeed. One of the first things Hitler did was get rid of the guns . . .without guns, the people cannot protect themselves from their government. . . . I believe that we should live in a world where the governement is afraid of the people, not where the people are afraid of the government.
"It is useless to reopen wounds that seem scarcely healed;...useless to speak of guilt regarding men who in the bottom of their hearts, perhaps, were all devoted to their nation with equal love, and who only missed or failed to understand the common road." sounds nice doesn't it . . . . yea, It was Adolf Hitler that said that . . . okay maybe it doesn't sound that great, but it definitly doesn't sound like someone who is carrying out genecide. . . . Evil people try and win the hearts and minds of people with their words. . .. . Yet we learned in the book of Matthew ( chapter 7) " wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them", and "beware of false prophets which come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly they are ravening wolves" . . . this guy and his followers think he is the messiah . . . . I am convinced he has a deal with the devil. . . .He came out of nowhere . . . . he was a one term senator who didn't vote 80% of the time. . . . yet now he's the president. . . . I wonder if we are going to end up in Civil war by his second term . . .I never thought I would say this, but I wish Hilary Clinton would have won the Nomination . . .at least with her we would have a better idea of what she would do and what her policies would be . . .

Here is a different but kind of fun post.
1. If every job paid $50,000 a year, and you had no physical or mental limitations, what would you do? I don't think 50,000 is enough .. . . lets say 100,000 . . I can easily live off of that. Other than being a mom ( obviously) . . I would love to have a job in marketing, or some sort of research, and most recently after having the baby, I would love to be a nurse or a doctor ( can't handle needles though, so that's not going to be happening anytime soon.)
2. What is your current church calling and what do you like about it? pianist in primary . . . been in there for 3 years. . . We live in a fast growing neighborhood, and as much as I love primary, 3 years and 4 ward splits, has caused me to only know about 6 women in the ward . . . .so I guess one thing I like about it is, I know who all of the kids in the ward are, and I can kind of keep my eye out for who I can use for babysitters in the next few years.
3. Name a person you regularly encounter (outside your family) who brightens your day. it would have to be the girls at work. . . because outside of my family, they are the only people I really see on a regular basis. . they are so kind and loving, and accepting of me.
4. In twenty years, what do you think you will miss most about your life now? Little babies. . . hopefully I won't be too far from having grandchildren at that point though, so I will get to live that new chapter of my life.
5. What’s something you appreciate about your spouse? He doesn't look for the acceptance of other people. He doesn't feel he needs to please them or do something that will make them like him. He does just what he thinks is right. Unfortunatly this is also something that drives me crazy, only because I am constantly looking for that acceptance. shortcoming on my part. but I am actually getting more and more to the point that I care more about being a good wife and mother than appearing to be a good wife and mother.
6. What is your favorite routine, household chore? Vacuuming . . . . If I am to the point of vacuuming, then the rest of the room is probably pretty clean. . . and if it's clean, I am more relaxed.
7. What’s a book you return to occasionally (besides the scriptures)? The Majesty of God's law, and Discourses of Brigham Young.
8.Favorite Small Pleasure. I love it when matt kisses me on the nose.
9. Favorite time of the day? Mornings. . . its quiet and It is usually just me and Selene. Great bonding time.
10. Name a person who performed what they thought was a small act of service, but ended up being a big deal to you: My sister Whitnee came to watch Selene while I put in my last two weeks of work . . . Huge deal to me, because I was having nightmares about putting her in daycare, and everytime I would start looking at putting her in a daycare center, I would start crying . . . . So grateful I can leave her with someone who will show her love.
11. Name someone who somehow changed your life. Matt and Selene . . . duh
12. Consider what you do each day. Think of one attribute or trait that you bring to your daily work that is a strength—what is something you do really well? I am a great listener. I tend to be pretty quiet, so that definitly helps .

Baby Blessing
Last Sunday the 12th of October, Matt Blessed Selene at Church. Both our parents were there, and some aunts, uncles and cousins. It was great seeing everybody. We had a brunch type meal afterwords at our house, with scrambled eggs, bacon, cinnimon rolls, and Juice. It went very well, other than the storm that some had to drive through to get to it. We took a few pictures before church. .. . . . now I'm wishing I would have got more pictures of the family members who were there too. My mom made Selene's dress and bibs, and I made her headband . . . .wishing now I wouldn't have done her hair curly . . . the spray gel got all flaky and gross by the time we got to church . . . just have to remember that for next time
Family Pictures

two weeks ago, Matt's Cousin did some family pictures for us. He is a really great photographer and lives just about a mile away from us. www.fogartyfoto.com. we did the session at his homestudio... problem with naked babies, they pee a lot . . .she got me once, and Matt twice. . . but it was a lot of fun, and we now have some really great pictures .

Daddy's little Girl!
Last weekend I went to Idaho for my cousins wedding . Matt had to work, so I took Selene, and we just headed down for the day by ourselves. It was great visiting with family and friends that I haven't seen in a while. Selene and I headed back for home quite a bit later than originally planned, and we ended up pulling into the driveway about 11:30 at night ( I tend to drive slow at night, and Selene can't go 3 hours without eating, so we had to stop at a rest stop to feed her) when we pulled into the garage, the door from the house popped open, and out came Matt. He was so excited we were home. He went straight over to the passenger side and pulled the car seat out of the back. He looked at her, and she looked at him and gave him the biggest smile we have seen her give anybody. It is so fun to watch him interact with her. He says things like "cute" , which he used to make fun of his friends for saying, but now he says it on a regular basis.
On Sunday's, I play piano in primary ( I think I'm going to be in there forever) so Matt takes Selene for two hours. . . I go crazy missing her for just those two hours. It's really going to be bad when I have to go back to work. It's strange how these little ones come into your life and have your heart wrapped around them instantly. In one way, it's strange that we have a kid, and in another, It seems like she's always been a part of our family. I'm so anxious for her to get to the next stage where she will be more interactive , but at the same time, it is making me really sad how fast she is growing and changing.
